Doha, Qatar: GWC, Qatar’s leading logistics and supply chain solutions provider, has announced the inauguration of its new chemical storage and distribution center at Logistics Village Qatar in Doha Industrial Area.
The 16,000m² facility, certified by Qatar Civil Defence Department (QCDD), the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change, is designed to serve clients in manufacturing, contracting, automotive, research and development, and various other industries. Equipped with both chemical and air-conditioned pallet storage, it accommodates a wide range of materials, including gases, flammable liquids, flammable solids, oxidising agents, toxic substances, corrosive substances, and dangerous goods.
Ranjeev Menon, Group CEO of GWC, expressed pride in unveiling the new facility, emphasizing its strategic location to benefit businesses of all sizes, from micro to large enterprises. He stated, “This is yet another milestone in the GWC journey as we consolidate our position as the leading logistics and supply chain solutions business in Qatar.”
The warehouse prioritizes health and safety, featuring ATEX-certified explosion-proof electrical and mechanical fittings. With a water-cooled air conditioning system, the temperature is maintained at 20°C. Fire mitigation measures include early suppression fast response roof sprinklers, beam/flame detectors, and CCTV surveillance.
The facility incorporates sustainability features such as daylight provision and motion-sensor LED lighting. GWC adheres to strict measures for chemical storage, following the UN Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling Chemicals. The layout ensures compatibility by segregating storage areas for different classes of chemicals. The Hazmat warehouse is equipped with a spill containment pit to prevent environmental contamination in case of leaks. All material handling equipment and racking systems are custom-designed to meet the specific conditions required for a chemical storage facility.
